Photographs of Daisy

As I was looking through some old papers I came across a couple of photographs of a pretty girl in late 19th century or early 20th century dress.  On the back she is described as my grandfather’s early girlfriend, Daisy Shellshear.  I had never heard of her until that moment.  It is always a strange feeling, to discover something about a person’s life that you did not know.  The sudden knowledge that my grandfather had been a young man, with a young man’s life.  People who we only knew as middle-aged or old take on a whole new life when this kind of material emerges.
